A Drop of Hope

Help more than 5000 people in Nigeria reach clean drinking water

A few years ago, with the support of our community, we successfully built our first well in Uganda. Now we would like to bring hope, health and clean water to another community.

The Nigeria well project

What would we like to achieve?

Our goal is to build two solar-powered well systems in Nigeria, on the grounds of public schools where both students and local residents can use the wells.

The selected schools each have more than 2000 students on average, and together with the surrounding communities a single well can bring hope to more than 5000 people.

Our mission

Clean water is more than a basic need

In many parts of the world, access to clean drinking water is still not taken for granted. Many families and children have to walk long distances every day just to reach water.

Clean water is not only about health. It creates opportunities for education, improves quality of life, reduces the risk of disease and gives hope for a better future.

A few years ago, with the support of our community, we built our first well in Uganda. Now we would like to continue this mission in Nigeria.

Uganda

We have already done it in Uganda

A few years ago, with the help of our community, we built our first well in Uganda. The project proved that real and lasting change is possible when people work together.

Photos and reports from the Uganda project will be added to the gallery as soon as they are available.

„Once it has worked once, it can work again.”

What are we building?

What does your support make possible?

Two solar-powered water wells. One well:

  • Can help more than 5000 people

  • Includes a 3-tonne water storage system

  • 10 water access points so many people can be served at once

  • Durable infrastructure designed for the long term

  • Uses solar power technology

  • Estimated cost of one well: EUR 4000

Sustainability

Why did we choose a solar-powered system?

In many regions of Nigeria the electricity grid is not always reliable. A solar-powered system allows the well to keep working even when the power supply is unstable.

Frequently asked questions

What is worth knowing about the project

Because the research we carried out with our local partner showed that in many parts of Nigeria, access to clean drinking water is a serious challenge.

Schools provide a safe and long-term sustainable location, while both students and local residents can use the well.

A single well can provide access to clean drinking water for more than 5000 people.

A solar-powered system is independent of the unstable electricity grid, more sustainable, and means lower operating costs in the long run.

The full estimated cost of one well is EUR 4000.

On the website and on our social media pages we regularly publish photos of the project, the state of the fundraising and reports from the construction.

The implementing partner provides a 2-year warranty and will repair any problems that arise during the warranty period.

We share updates regularly on our Facebook, Instagram and TikTok pages and on this website.

Of course. Every contribution brings us closer to the goal. No donation is too small.

Because with the help of our community we have already built a functioning well in Uganda, and the documents, plans and partnership agreements of the current project are publicly available.

No donation is too small

One person may not be able to solve all the problems of the world. But together we can change the life of a community.

We have already done it in Uganda. Now it is Nigeria's turn.

For this plan to become reality, we once again need the support of our community.
